| My Comment: | Original owner: Edward LONG to 1865. Purchased by Harriet Beard and Joseph Stephens in partnership as part of the insolvent estate of Mr. Long. The following is a description from the advertised Insolvent Estate sale of Edward Long on the 11th May 1865, "The Store was known as the Telegraph Store, of brick construction of one storey, 70 feet long 20 feet deep, occupied as a store and dwelling. The store is fitted, cedar counters, and shelves all round of hardwood. At one end is a bakehouse with oven. The allotment runs back 170 feet, is enclosed, and planted with fruit trees of various kinds." (515). (653) |
