Excelsior Battery (Mrs. Beards)
Newmans Gully
Note 1:
What remains now: Only a rock foundation and mounds of tailings remain at this site.
The Battery was sold in 1872 and was initially used to revisit the tailings of the battery from the previous ten years. It was eventually dismantled and moved to a more suitable location on the Goldfield.
The remnants of two earthen dams are still visible in Newmans Gully. Other on ground manmade features are in the vicinity.
On the west side of the junction of the two creeks is Lot 82 also owned by Harriet Beard and could have been the Managers residence as it was a requirement that Managers had to live on site. (653)
