The Battery is on the site of District Lots 33, 34 and 35, the three Lots were applied for by Jean Gustave RENATEAU in 1868 as an "Improvement Purchase" but was refused by the Gold Commissioner in 1869. (291)

The first mention of this batteries operations under the Roberts name is in December 1892 describing crushings from Red Hill Tambaroora. (534) Pg.7, dtd 9 Dec 1892
